Thanks to everyone who braved the sweltering heat on Saturday to come out to ICE and support handmade art! It was not an easy day to be out and about, dedication from shoppers and art lovers like yourselves make it all worth while.

I’m in the process of listing books on Etsy that I have left over from the show, there’s a lot of them so check back often (I have a slow connection, I’ll probably be listing books in batches over the next week or so). I’m also in the process of getting books into some local boutiques, so keep your eyes here for more information on that.

If you’d like to contact me about custom orders or just to chat, you can find my e-mail address under the “custom-order books” link at the top left of the page. If you’re interested in my photography, please check out the flickr badge in the right sidebar- it will take you to photography by me and my husband Will Hindmarch.

Thanks again everyone, stay cool!

everywhere.jpg Issue 3 of the wonderful, community built travel magazine Everywhere features one of my photographs! A picture I took of the boy (husband Will*) in front of the Crown Fountain in Chicago’s Millennium Park is featured in the current issue’s “Public Art” section. If you’re not familiar with Everywhere do stop by the site and check out the current issue free on their blog. Be sure to browse the wealth of travel info. and images available on the site from your fellow travelers. And if you’re feeling inspired, why not sign on and start your own travelogue?

*Not only is Will featured in the photo, he also wrote the fabulous published caption

New Year Resolutions

Posted by SaraQ on January 1st, 2008

1. Learn and master at least 2 new bindings
I have my sites set on mastering the secret Belgian binding, brought to my attention by a lovely book made by
Rhonda of MyHandboundBooks . I found a tutorial online that I’m hoping to try this week!

2. Take better pictures for the Etsy page (and in general)
This means another fun project, constructing a light tent.

3. Incorporate my photography into my books
I have tons of photos that I’ve taken that I love and have been waiting for the right project to use. Exactly how I’ll be using them in my books leads me to resolution #4. . .

4. Experiment more with alternative process photography
I’m back using my Holga thanks in part to some new toys that I got as Christmas presents from the in-laws: a set of color filters and a 35mm adapter kit. I’d also like to finally play withgum bichromate processing, especially the tri-color process - which would mean I’d need to start making negatives off of the computer, which leads me to #5. . .

5. Learn to use Photoshop more effectively
The boy tells me all the time how Photoshop could both make the work I do easier AND open up new possibilities. I’ve been slow to learn, but I’m vowing to try in 2008.
